Running Horse Roundabout

The UK’s first turbo roundabout of its type, bringing an established Dutch approach to a busy Maidstone junction.

My contribution

I proposed the scheme, developed the design, secured approval and managed delivery through to completion in May 2024. I also supervised the works on site, working closely with the contractor and stakeholders. The layout and materials were selected to support road safety and keep long-term maintenance requirements manageable.

Design & delivery considerations

Construction was sequenced to maintain public access during the day. That requirement shaped both the design and the traffic management programme.
